What does therapy with me look like?
Our initial sessions will allow us to get to know each other, explore what brings you to therapy, and what you hope to gain. You might feel very clear about this - or you might simply feel like something is 'off', and want professional input to discover more. These sessions will inform how we work, what to prioritise, and the length of our therapy (I offer both long and short term therapy).
Questions we might explore together include: what would help you to live a more present, authentic life? What's getting in the way? Are events from your past preventing you from living the life you want to live right now?
We might look at stories or beliefs that you might have about yourself. Or fixed patterns that you find yourself repeating.
I will invite you to develop a more attuned, compassionate relationship to yourself, your body, and your difficulties. What function do your symptoms serve? How and when did you develop these ways of being? How did they once help you? To what extent are they useful (or not) today?
As well as traditional talk-therapy, I invite expressive and creative ways of working to further make sense of your experience, and to expand your possibilities. This might include (but are not limited to) using movement, drawing or clay.
